Mirror Work - 21 Day Challenge to Amplify Your Self-Love & Magnetism




Today is my day 1 of Louise Hay's mirror work challenge. I decided to do this challenge again, now that I am over 5 years away from my 1st time I started this challenge. Back then I was suffering with depression, low self-esteem, severe anxiety, and suicidal thoughts. At that time, my life was much different than it is today. I was a new mother of twin girls, I was in a relationship that was not feeding my overall health but draining my wealth. I was resentful, bitter, and burnt-out.

Fast forward to 2023, I am thriving today because of the deep inner work that I have done over the last several years. I am still on my healing & self-awareness journey and I never want to abandon road. I was introduced to Louise Hay by her audio book 101 Power Thoughts. As I listened to this recording at work daily for 8 hours a day, sometimes intently focused on her words, other times it played in the background allowing it to penetrate my subconscious. From this practice, my inner strength began to transform in ways I had never imagined.


That transformation is still giving to this very day. Because I have experienced that power of her work, I always keep Louise's teachings in my self-care toolbox! Now, I have decided to once again do this 21 day challenge because it is a resource that I want to share with the women I'm in community with. We have the power to create the life we desire but we have to be willing to do the work. You all know this though, I'm just here to remind you, encourage you, and keep you accountable!


Louise has provided affirmations to say aloud to yourself in the mirror, she has also provided journaling prompts, a "Heart Thought" of the day, & a meditation for each day. Thats a lot of value & very simple to do's for any busy person. I will share with you my experience as I restart my 21 day journey. Once completing this round of my journey I will be inviting you to start a 21 day journey with me to up level your relationship with yourself so you can fall for your dream self!


Day 1 - Loving Yourself


Get in front of a mirror, look yourself deeply in the eyes with acute attention and say the following:


1. "I want to like you. I want to really learn to love you. Let's go for it and really have some fun"

Take a Deep Breath

2. " I'm learning to really like you. I'm learning to really love you."

Take a Deep Breath

3. "I'm willing to learn to love you [insert name]. I'm willing to learn to love you."

Take a Deep Breath


Continue using these affirmations throughout your day as you see your reflection in mirrors, windows, or anywhere else you see yourself.


My Feelings & Observations:


I have built a really solid love relationship with myself and initially it felt really easy to say the affirmations this time around. I smiled through it with joy and truth, thinking to myself, I'm not learning to like or love myself, I already like and love myself a whole lot! But what I felt into is the fact that I am even more empowered and encouraged by saying these specific words to myself. It gives me a sense of reassurance even though I feel like I already know. You can never approve of yourself too much. Just like a child may know their parents love them, they still need to be told they are loved as well as shown.


Now, at the end of my day I felt accomplished. There were times when I was doing something that wasn't favorable but I still pushed through it because I know that I had to get it done to feel at ease. My love for myself wants me to be at ease and at peace. If I'm doing something I don't love but the end result is in my benefit than the actions taken are worth my time. I went to sleep quickly because I was truly exhausted and feeling like I had won the day!

Meditation Experience:


I am a lover of the meditation practice. I really love the visualization and being able to see myself in the described scenario. I chose to listen to the audio after I read the meditation written in the book. I prefer to hear Louise's voice guiding me. I was truly able to get into a space where I could see my worthiness to be loved and my ability to be love.


I was able to feel my love energy vibrating and my aura expanding, pouring into others around me. I can see my prosperous and abundant life surrounding me with the understanding that what I want, wants me too! The belief that I am happy, healthy, and whole is a fact that I feel but am working on bringing from my internal world to the external world around me.


I will give acknowledgment for the fact that everyone does not do well with visualizations. I know in the span of a 21 day commitment what may start off as uneasy and challenging can really turn into something magnificent if you just stick with it!



Final Thoughts:


Day 1 was a breeze but I had some great realizations that I didn't expect. I also did not journal the first time I started this challenge, I am excited to document this process and see the changes and patterns within myself. As I am trying to manifest the things I want in my life I know the more I love myself and radiate positivity, I will attract the things I desire because I am creating space for my abundant energy to flow.
